Best and worst of Blog widgets!
You see widgets everywhere these days. When people get into blogging the first thing they do is fill up their sidebar with junk that they don’t need, and in the end it just slows your website down and makes it look a mess. I have myself done these things and will probably still do them in the future… But some of you can learn from my mistakes.
On the other hand you will also find many widgets that are very good and will really improve your blogging for you and your readers.
I will list some of the worst and best widgets and what they can do (Or not) for your blog or website.
Worst:
- Games and Cyber Pets.
These will just slow your website down. I see many people using the cyber pets these days and the truth be told I was at one point going to use one. Luckily my brain kicked in and I realised it would just slow everything down and take up so much space. Games also take forever to load. It is OK to use them if you have a page for them and make sure it is tagged so people know it will take forever to load. - Spottt
This is just a rip-off from Entrecard but is a much more simple version. It has no settings that give you any control and you will very rarely get any clicks to your blog. I used it for around one week and got under 10 click backs after giving thousands of impressions. The stats are none existent and you never know what will appear on your site. I found these cool little email buttons as I was getting sick of all my spam and when I took a look at my traffic I could see all the email spiders grabbing everything. So I went looking for some nice email buttons and found this really cool site. It makes you a nice custom made button but also gives it a nice style and makes it fit with your email domain.
I am a big Gmail fan and also love close to anything Google make (Maybe not Youtube) so do not mind branding my things with the G name. I think it looks nice and also should stop some of these email spiders.

Look like a Robot online…. User Agent Switcher BIG LIST
A lot of people do not know that you can view some sites that you would normally pay for by tricking the website to think your a Google Bot. It is very easy to do, but I have made it even easier.
I have put up my list that I have been using for years and it is is a XML format so all you do is import it and you have all the browsers and bots you will ever need.
For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about and want to know how to do this neat trick, here you go.
Tools for the job
FireFox - Download
User Agent Switcher - Download
Agent XML - Download
- Install download and install FireFox Browser
- Click the download link for User Agent Switcher and click INSTALL NOW
- Restart FireFox
- Click “Tools” - “User Agent Switcher” - “Options”
- Click “User Agents” - “Import” find the XML file you downloaded and click “OPEN”
- Now click “OK” and its all done.
Now all you do is click Tools and click User Agent Switcher and select the Bot you would like to be. I put them at the top of the list. I would pick Google Bot as it is mostly used.
I also put in a lot of browsers and Phones in so you can see how they display in your browser.

Spring Cleaning…. BlogStyle
The past few months I have been working on the SEO of my blog and found some amazing things doing it. I have learnt so much about how Google and others work and what they look for. One thing this has shown me is how many mistakes I have made in the past with tagging and permalinks. I never even knew permalinks could make such a big difference!
Last night I spent time going through my categories and sorting them out so I never had so many, I also sorted my permalink problems out. Wordpress is amazing for this and makes it such a interesting thing to do.
I know I have much more to learn! But I do think that doing it the hard way is the best way and much better then reading from a book, as now I remember everything much better.
Since doing all these things I have found my hits have gone up over 200% over the past month or two. And i would say most of it just comes from simple things like permalinks and tags and maybe a bit from using RSS feeds with feedburner.

Google Talk with 2 accounts (How to)
have a few accounts with Google and love using the Gtalk feature, but as i have more then one account I can only log-in to one account using the free Google Talk program. While I was trying to find a way to do this I found that more people have this problem and would love to do it also, well I found the answer.
- Go to your Desktop and create a new “Shortcut”
- Browse to “C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe” and select the file.
- After “C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe” make a space and type “/nomutex”
It should look like this: “C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe” /nomutex - Now open the new shortcut and you can log-in to a new account along with your normal shortcut.
Many people will not see the point in this and say “Use the Gmail notify” but I find this better and I also find that people have issues with Gmail Notify.
This I hope will work with all future updates (It needs a update asap) but if not ill update it.

Download from MegaUpload Without Limit with Premium Link Generator
I seldom post any tips or tricks on MegaUpload because I really seldom use this free service. Reason is because there are 2 restrictions. Whenever I want to download anything from MegaUpload, I will get the message saying “All download slots assigned to your country (Malaysia) are currently in use. Please try again in a few hours or install the Megaupload Toolbar for immediate access - with the toolbar installed, there are no more slot limitations for you!” What? I have to download a toolbar in order to download using free account? Forget it! Fortunately, there is a Firefox extension which lets you bypass the requirement to download the unnecessary toolbar.Second restriction is after I’ve downloaded the a file from Megaupload, I can’t immediately download the next file… I’ll have to reconnect my internet connection to get a new IP address to bypass this restriction. Sometimes I have no choice but to go through all that because the files I am looking for can only be found in megaupload.
I think I am lucky because while reading some post on a forum, I found a website that can generate megaupload premium link! A megaupload premium link means I have the highest download speed priority, maximum parallel downloads, no wait time before download begins, download starts immediately, and support resuming!
FreeMu.info uses an amazing brilliant script which is also very simple. The script uses a premium megaupload account to generate a premium megaupload link from a normal megaupload link. A normal megaupload link looks like this (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XXXXXXXX) but as for PREMIUM megaupload link, it is very long and it looks something like this (http://www41.megaupload.com/files/aa3/file.rar)

How to: 20SB/Ning Badge on Wordpress
Hi, I just read that some people are having problems in how to add a Ning - 20SB badge to their Wordpress, so I thought I would help out by making a easy to follow guide with screenshots and nice easy steps.

I am using FireFox 2 so things may look a tiny bit different if you are using a different browser. I am also using Wordpress 2.3.1, things should still work OK with updates but tell me if things change and I shall update as soon as I can.
