If everyone uses EntreCard this way, it won’t be a viable tool for long. I only drop sites that I actually enjoyed reading. Isn’t that the true purpose? Why would you want visitors to drop by that have absolutely no interest in your site? What’s the point of high traffic if they are just scanning for drop and vote buttons? Why can’t people just be honest? This is NOT the way to improve your ranking because it will NOT LAST.

I go through phases, but generally I can’t be bothered doing 300/day any more, more like 50-150 depending how keen I’m feeling. Often I do them in small batches, during a break in something else I’m doing.

@Offgrid Living: 300 drops/day is actually okay, as long as you don’t overdo it. Pride (maintaining top on the category) is a sin I would even suggest that Entrecard remove the 300 drops limit. Believe it or not, there was a day I run out of drops, and I was still reading some blogs worth dropping a card. (Okay, I was keeping a list of 250 or so blogs I automatically drop a card on, but I do read 15-30 of them: as for the rest, they are reciprocates.) In the real world you don’t have limits on how many business cards you can drop. Whether the drop is actually useful or not depends on the definition of “usefulness”. Just dropping a card on a blog indicates that you’ve gone to the blog. Sometimes the blog owner reciprocates, then you reciprocate the next day, pretty on you are already making comments on the blog and soon you have actually subscribed to the feed. That, of course, presumes that the blog is worth reading in the first place.

So it seems that everyone experiences the ‘burnout’. Sounds like the solution is to team up with another entrecard user to cycle on and off with. That way you’re never really out of the game.

Maybe Entrecard should limit drops to 50 per day…. maybe people wouldn’t burn out so easy and stick around little longer …. and maybe have time to read the other blogs. I can’t figure out the popularity algorithms at all. Maybe they should also consider outside visits from Google, Yahoo etc.. I don’t know -

You’re a great man and dad and this is a site I visit often even to use your drop list. I to have gone from 60+ days in a row dropping 300 cards per day. I realize I can get more done and with better results than dropping cards.

Sometimes I just feel like Entrecard is a vicious circle you can’t get off. People drop on you, you drop on them. It gets to be very time consuming, with little room for anything else. 99% of the people who drop on you don’t even read your blog, and when you drop on them you don’t have time to read theirs either. Sometimes I feel like what’s the point. But I guess I’ll keep going! I guess I’m practically burnt out too - lol!

I got to be third in my category (Personal Diaries) which is huge so that was enough for me. I’m glad I was there at the right few seconds to get a screen shot while it lasted. lol

I have avoided burn out by putting the brakes on early. I wondered how yourself and others could keep it up. Did not feel at all jealous for your number 1, 2 or 3 spots. I knew it was way more work than I wanted to do.

I’m currently happy keeping up with a group of EC bloggers I really do enjoy visiting. When I think of something to say I leave a comment and don’t feel rushed to card drop and run. I still card drop most nights but spread it over 2 blogs and now Doodle Week too. I mix return drops with the Red Card Droppers and those in my favourites. I don’t get even close to 300 drops a day/ night any more. I don’t want to go back to that.

I dropped madly the first month but have now got a nice routine of dropping about 50 a day. Gives me time to read more posts and comment more plus I get regular requests to place entrecards as I am not too expensive.

Same goes with purchasing I generally only place ads at half the points of mine or less, unless it is a favorite site, as I prefer my link on many sites than one high point site. It doesn’t appear to alter my traffic at all.

Therefore no more burnout

I find the same as you you get fed up doing the same thing day after day, but I keep going. I drop 300 and have never had more than 200 drops back in a day. With the new Entrecard system you can check much easier to see who is dropping back on you and weed out the non reciprocators.

I think I got somewhat disillusioned when I went on my spring break vacation and was going to pay someone to drop my cards just to keep my spot. I decided to let it slide for the vacation. My vacation got cut short (2 days without dropping) and I fell like a rock in rankings.

Is it worth it, maybe, maybe not. Depends on the mood I’m in I guess…

Dropping can get tiring , but as long as Entrecard allows more than one account , and credits can be sold , think about making 10-15 dollars a day by dropping 2000 cards , well seem quite hard for all that do not know how to organize their bookmarks in the browser , and open 10 sites at once. Or visit this link to easily drop in 20 minutes fast loading pages

It’s has gotten to me when the first thing that I do every morning is to log on to EntreCard. Just waking up and going through the motion becomes really tiresome.

Am looking towards alternate source of traffic.

guys, my personal advice is to halt this non-sense fuss, and get your traffic, promotion, and readers with other programs, which are much easier, wiser, and maybe more efficient… why not have a look at blogupp.com? especially check out their blog. they have interesting thoughts there.

In a perfect world it would work like that. but everyone knows people drop 300 and this is one reason it is 300. Its more like a game now… Drop what you can and earn what you can.

I think the point to be made here is that one should not attempt to drop just so he’ll be on top. I don’t think that’s the main point of Entrecards anyhow, being electronic versions of good old-fashioned business cards (as they would like to put it). You go to a blog to read something, drop your Entrecard to tell the blogger that you’ve been there, and that’s it.
