Final Fantasy VII: Remake?
** SPOILERS WARNING **
Maybe this is old news to everyone and I have heard the rumours for many many years now. The reason I make this post is because I just completed Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core for the PSP and stuck with it till the end of the credits. At the end you see Cloud and Aerith in what is a semi remake of the Final Fantasy 7 intro. The intro has Cloud saying “I am Cloud, SOLDIER First class”.
Another reason I think there may be a remake is there was so many unanswered questions. There was a unknown 4 year gap in which a lot could have happened. There were people who had unfinished tales (Maybe it was just me not fully completing the game though) and most of all, Millions of fans want it done!
I know it would be the sole selling point for me buying a Sony PlayStation 3 Console as no other games have the pulling power of the Final Fantasy Series for me and many other OLD gamers. They also have many die hard fans who have grown up and have stopped playing 90% of the games that we used to play. The only games that have any selling power for me now are Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid games., I do enjoy the GTA and a few other big names… But they would not have my buy a console just to play them.
My Brother owns a Xbox 360 Console and most the time it is just sat idle doing nothing. The only time he ever plays it is when a new game comes out and then it lasts a week or two till he gets bored… Which is why I think the 360 has failed… It has no other uses unlike the PS3 which has the Blue Ray player.
But anyway, does anyone have any confirmation of Final Fantasy 7/VII remake? And if so… Will it be an exact remake or a whole new side to the stories we may have missed.

I can highly recommend you view “final fantasy 7 : advent children” (movie).
FF7 was a great game, FF8 not quite so.

I have seen FF7 AC and loved it. I love it even more since watching it after completing FF7 CC as it all fits much better now.
I hope we see more add-on games to make the story even longer.

I absolutely loved Crisis Core. In fact, I’m playing it all over again and this time I’m going to beat the Minerva monster. FF7 rocks too!! It would be awesome to see it in PS3. I also enjoyed the God of War series in PS2 and PSP.

Yea I think ill replay the whole game again. i got around 55% missions and I think most of the extra things. id like to do 100% missions and finish everything. On the old FF7 game i maxed out the clock 100hs as I tried to do everything!
I mainly want to because i dont want to miss any story line.

i loveeeeee any final fantasy games and movies. Maybe because im crazy playing those rpg. I like ffvii too. I watched it on my psp but i dont have the game. I have no time playing any games today.. im waiting for ffXIII…ahheheheh

FF7 CC is a normal Final Fantasy game. its not really watered down or anything. in my opinion its one of the best FF games around. It has one of the best stories and even though it may lack the amount of time needed it is a perfect PSP game.

I see it like this… if they made an ULTRA CRAPPY SECOND version of Final Fantasy X which doesn’t hold a candle to Final Fantasy VII which was made on Regular PS… it would ONLY be logical to give the people what they want… Final Fantasy VII 2… instead of all these new crappy Final Fantasies with BETTER graphics and gayer main female looking male characters… They even took out all of the old summons… I miss the good old days of Final Fantasy 7 and 8.. after that… it was just crappy.

Well, you should be. You’ve missed out on possible the best game ever made for any console.
Even after 9 years since I’ve first played it, I find myself still playing it through(on ePSXe, with my computer hooked up to a television, so i’d get a better experience than on the PSX :P).
A remake would mean the world to me, since this was the first RPG game I’ve ever played, and to this day, still the best one to boot.
I’m sure Square Enix would make a ton of money remaking it. I think they do intend to remake it eventually though. They’re just postponing it so they’ll get maximum sales ratings. Otherwise, officials in Square wouldn’t be avoiding the question, but instead saying “We will not be making a remake”.
At any rate, If you are a true FFVII fan, and you truly want a remake, make your statement, and sign this petition:

omg square enix would be retarded not to do a remake, ff7 is one of if not the best game ever. it set the standard for the way rpgs should be made, kinda like how the halo series set the standard for online console gamin. i have yet to come across a game even remotely as entertaining as ff7

I’ve played all of the games from Final Fantasy 7, except Before Crisis, and I thought they were amazing. If they ever made a Final Fantasy VII remake it would definately take a while. I’d laugh if Square Enix has been lying to the press since the Tech Demo of 2005 that started all of this remake stuff and that they’ve actually been in production. It would definately take a while to make if they wanted to make it as legendary as the original and I’d buy it for sure. What do think they’d need to do if they actually remade it anyways?

if they did or have started making it they would need to think of new ways of doing some thing’s. Without a doubt people would complain and moan because it will NOT be perfect in everyone’s eyes.
I am all for it, if it did suck then I always have the PS1 version to run back to. I also think the original version had a lot of unclosed ends that I am sure they could go into… I would hope they did change some of the story line so for old players we still had some shocks.
I am now 80% sure they will or are remaking this game. If they are it will be in the next 5 years for sure… I also believe it will be on the PS3.
I think ill wait for this to come out before I get a PS3… But then again MGS is making me want to get one….

The president of Square was being interviewed and he was asked if crisis core was the end of 7, he said no and wouldn’t tell the reporter what it was but he just kept saying it would be huge. There is also a OVA of final fantasy VII that explains the lost years. your should check it out
Its called last orders or something like that, it was never dubbed in english.

I got that short with my Japan Version of FF7 AC. It also has some other shorts on.
I am sure we will see many games from FF7 in the future! I bet we will even see remakes of remakes in 20 years from now.

If they do make a FF7 remake there will have to be a balance, whilst severely overhauling the gaming system (Like altering battle modes, menus and modifiying extras) they’ll also have to preserve what the old fans loved so much about the game.
I’d like to see the old dialogue from the Playstion one version kept if that would possible, it had a grittier edge to it than most of these new Square/Enix games which are all just abit family friendly or just cheesy. (the amount of times I cringed when that bloody Genesis recited a line from that crap sub-Shakespearean play I wouldn’t want to tell you)
(Though the fact that it has to be translated and then voice-acted, is limiting)
And also they need to retain the moody atmosphere of the maps (which Crisis Core didn’t have, especially when you saw the slums which looked crap and amazing at the same time in FF7, but in Crisis Core it looked like a map from just any RPG), along with the great music hopefully being left unaltered maybe remastered, but otherwise kept the same.
According to the one of the execs of Square Enix the 2005 trailor of FF7, didn’t use the full capabilities of the PS3. So if there is a remake it could look even better.

You made some good points Rich! It is such a hard game to remake, i dont think they will please everyone as FF7 has such a wide range of gamers.
You have gamers like myself who would be happy with no voice and text… And you have gamers who would hate reading and would find it pointless. I will admit that it was nice hearing Cloud and Aerith though
The more I think about it the more I just hope it is a fantasy that never happens… Maybe it is just best left alone in my head and millions of others
But i would love it too!
With Square in money problems I am sure it will be out in the next 3 years (Sooner I think).
I like the idea of making it darker though
I would like to see more of Vincent and see the darker side of Cloud.

I heard that Final Fantasy VII the original PS1 version doesn’t work on the PS3. I don’t actually have a PS3 so I can’t test that out, I’m just waiting to see if Square Enix will release a remake then I’ll consider shelling out for PS3. One thing they should do is package the remake, and the original in a two disc pack.
(they’re using Blu-Ray discs for storage which I’m not really sure how many time more powerful they are to DVD’s, but I know that DVD’s were around 13 times more powerful than CD’s, which were used for the original Playstation)
I really don’t want them to alter much of the story, as I did alot of exploration around the map got all the flashbacks in the original. (You have to revisit places to give Cloud flashbacks, like Nibeilham, or go to the Snow Village to find out who Aeris’ parents are)

Lee your right it would be good to have it a little darker thats what made me interested in final fantasy its not a kids game and the story line is amazing on all of them I like 7,8.and 10 the most I like them because they are people who have been t9old one thing all thier life but when they find out the truth all crap hits the fan
If they do make it they have to people, the story, the monsters, the open world, and the twists I wouldnt mind if they have it RPG but I would like it more if was like a game that felt like an amazing movie
O yeh My little brother likes it too so it would be crazy if they had it on multiplayer not like fantastic four or any thing like that I just would like a normal one player screen with two people never mind

I believe that they will re-make FF7. Not purely because it’s a gaming legacy but because Square-Enix would be mentally estranged not to. Besides, Waving the FF7 video in our faces was like waving a cupcake in an obese child’s face. I just wish they would get cracking on the re-make

I hope they make a remake, but only if they realy keep the story, characters, battle system and everything else the same.
only remake the graffics or i won’t be interested and just play the original.
but they will make a big announcement on FF7 next weekend so lets hope for a remake!!

If they did do a remake, they should preserve as much as they can from the original, such as materia, dialogue, weapons, music, sound, effects, enemies, etc. I don’t want an alternative version of ff7. I just want one with better graphics.

I totally agree. I am hoping they dont change the materia and can keep as much story line as they can… Maybe add some new parts we missed and give more background.
I do think they could change some things and make it better… but what they are I cant answer… And i would hate to be the person who has to pick.
