Firefox VS Internet Explorer - My edition

One of the big wars on the Internet has always been FireFox (FF) vs Internet Explorer (IE) over the last few years. I have always noticed that most of the people who use FF are computer users who spend a lot of time online, where as most the users who use IE either do not spend much time online or think IE is the only thing you can use to look at websites.

I switched from Sitemeter to Google Analytics two days ago and have spent some time getting to know the interface. I noticed something I have not looked at before… What browsers people use to look at my blog.

I think it is a important thing for any blogger to know what software people use as so many browsers display blogs differently. I have had issues with IE and FF in the past, and not so long ago I had some issues with sidebars moving in IE but they looked fine in FF… and loads more that ill not bore you with.

Browser Stats IE vs FF

  • 63.75% - Firefox
  • 28.95% - Internet Explorer

The rest are a mix.

Well it looks like most of my users are good old FireFox users! It makes me happy as this is what I mainly use to test this blog and I know it 99% works fine in. I guess it also shows what types of users I have and that the Browser war is still going strong and someone is kicking Micro$ofts ass for once.

Hahaha! That’s so true about IE and FF users! No wonder those people continue to live in fear of the internet. IE is serving it up to them in all its non-standards-compliant glory.

Really? I dont use Vista so have no idea (I do not intend on using it any time soon).

If its true then its really bad of M$ to do this. The whole reason Windows works so well is it can use software made by the masses…. If they do start doing this then I think someone else should get involved on a legal side of things.

Hey Lee… Thought I’d drop in and say hello and thanks again for visiting my blog… I’e noticed we’ve got a few things in common and will be linking to you in my sidebar… I enjoy reading your blog and think that some of my readers would also :-)

As far FF vs IE… I use FF and it drives me crazy when my blog gets screwed up or looks different in IE or other browsers… I probably get a little too anal in tweaking it to attempt to maintain the same look in the different browsers out there as well as different the screen sizes… what a pain in the ars!… lol

I prefer firefox because it runs much faster the IE. Also say you like playing games online. IF you check out the same games site in IE and FireFox you will see that FireFox is much faster.

How do you feel about Safari?

I have only used Safari a handful of times and they have all been on a MAC. I have not tested the Windows version yet.

I have read its very good at displaying websites as they were intended to be. Last I checked Safari was still in beta stage on Windows though.

I do have a few people using it though… Hope it looks ok.

But anything is better then IE.

I like to use firefox. IE latest versions have many features but still I think fire fox is best.

That’s true, when I started using the internet, I was using IE. But when I discovered FF, I had been using that ever since.
