Softly

Laying here next to you,

wishing for endless time,

knowing our time is fading,

knowing soon you wont be mine,

Listening to you breathing,

watching your sleepy eyes,

wishing I had a god to believe in,

praying to the skies,

I knew your hope was fading,

never as lasting as mine,

but I’ll lay here while your sleeping,

hope your dreaming of our time,

I’ll remember all our good times,

the bad times were so few,

I’ll remember all our best times,

like the day I proposed to you,

Its getting daylight outside now,

you’ll be gone when I see the moon.

I’ll stroke your face, see you smile,

I know you’ll be gone soon,

When all this is over,

and the audience is gone away,

we’ll be just like strangers,

not knowing what to say,

I will always remember,

the time when I played that song,

I held you tight,

then we parted ways,

In these arms is where you belong,
