Some amazing news!

Written by Lee Doyle on October 7, 2008 – 10:02 am

For the past week I have been in talks with a publisher about helping to write a book along with a few other people. I can’t go into to much details at the moment as it is still in the early stages. and not everything is OKed yet.

It is with the same publisher who have been interested in publishing some of my poems which I hope to be out by next Christmas (2009).

The book at this stage will be written by me and 2 other people. It will mostly deal coping with stressful situations and the stages people go through when put in these scenarios. It will be more of a self help book and a guide into what to expect when you are in a no-win-situation.

I am not sure how it will work at the moment, and I am not sure how much input I will have in this project as a whole… But I hope it will be a good experience if it does happen.

I will post more info on this as it gets closer to finalizing, I will also be posting some screen shots of the first looks of the poetry book when I get them (I am trying to make some draft designs now).

The poetry book will be written just by me. I am sure some editing will go into it as my English and grammar is so poor (:P) but apart from that it will be just me :)

Not everything is 100% going to happen yet… But it is looking more and more like it will and I should find out by the end of Christmas if the poetry book is definitely going to happen.

Childless Fathers

Written by Lee Doyle on December 26, 2007 – 12:22 pm

Daddy?I woke up today in a sort of happy mood, but when I got on the computer and logged into my email things got better. I have just spent the last hour or 2 writing emails to some Fathers who wish to remain nameless. They mostly found my website through my “Fatherless Christmas - Poem” which has got me many hits the past few days, a few of the Fathers contacted me with some stories that are a lot like mine and a lot like my old story before this whole injustice happened.

What really got me about this was not the emails or the fact that they contacted me, but it was the fact of how they found me. They typed into Google “Fatherless Christmas” which then got them her, so what must have driven these Fathers to search for such a subject? I got hundreds of hits just from search results with words just like these, and then they came and read my poems and other posts and needed to contact someones.

These days so many people think that Fathers do not have the same feelings and bonding that mothers have, and in this sexist country that we live it is deemed “OK” for a father to have no contact with his own children. We are now living in a country where the word Father is replaced with the word “Positive Male Role Model” as the word Father is black listed.

In a world where we have tried so hard to show that women are as good as men in doing jobs and normal everyday things, we have now put men and Fathers in a lesser light, were seen as the home-wreckers, the violent, the unloving, and uncaring but to say this and to think this aren’t we doing what was done to women all them years ago? Is this not sexist? And what will be of our future Fathers? What will my son have to go through to see his children?

Let us change our views on Fathers, let us judge each person on how they care for their children, if a Father wishes to be around his children and wants to care for them let that be, it will only effect our children’s future and then our country.

Thank you for the emails, I hope things get better for you all and your children.
