Scoutle is your personal blogging slave!

Scoutle is a new blogging tool that follows in the footsteps of sites such as Entrecard and Spottt. It does have a twist to it that is unlike the others though. With Entrecard you need to spend a lot of time dropping card and promoting your blog… But with Scoutle you have a tiny little slave to do all of the work for you!

Meet your Scout (I call mine Nicole) and she walks around my fave blogs who also use Scoutle! She finds all the interesting posts I may like and send them to my widget on my blog.

Scoutle.com

All I do is find new blogs I like and get Nicole to say hi for me. She will then go walking around all of my fave blogs and meet other Scouts and as she talks to them she finds out new things.

Here is a video that tries to explain how everything works:

I have only been with this network for a week and have found some cool sites. It has a nice ranking system that I have not totally worked out yet though :P I am told that they are working on a new version of Scoutle that should be out soon!

One cool thing I really liked about Scoutle is that you can sign up using OpenID. This is one of the first networks I have seen do this, which is awesome!

When you sign up (Do it now to get more points!) please remember to add me to your network!

Add me to your connections!

Here is some info from the Scoutle website:

1. Sign Up & Login

Sign up, activate your account and login.

2. Create a Scout and let him walk

Your Scout is your personal webcrawler. He will walk over the Internet and meet other Scouts. To help your Scout walk, give him some space by installing the small Stage on your website. This will not only activate your Scout, but will also bring other Scouts to your website.

3. Check & Connect

The Scouts your Scout will meet are selected based on a range of criteria, like interests, networks, connections and more. Be sure to check his results every now and then, visit the websites and if you find them interesting, start a Connection. This will help your website become more valuable.

4. Grow & More

You will not only see more visitors come to your website, but you will also get more points, which means your website is more appreciated. Discover all other options Scoutle has to offer. Create or join Networks or search in the Guide. Of course, new options will be available in the future as well. A new way of browsing the Internet is born!

HAVE FUN!!!

Wordpress.com and Entrecard

Graham from Entrecard has posted on his blog that he went to the Wordpress Birthday party. He met Ma.tt there and I guess plugged Entrecard as hard as he could. The only problem with using the free hosted version of Wordpress (.com) is they do now allow many widgets that use Javascript. This has been a big problem for Entrecard as its goal is to get on every blog… But it cant if one of the biggest blogging platforms wont allow its widget.

Graham has said that if enough people request the plug-in Wordpress would allow the widget to be used! So lets get bugging Matt and the Wordpress.com staff and get it on there… I know I do not use the free version but it would help me if more members joined… and help you!

How you can help!

  • Send a request to Wordpress.com using their contact page. You need a Wordpress.com blog to do this though! Remember.. If you use a selfhosted Wordpress you may still have a account for their Akismet plug-in! Please request the Entrecard Plug-in! Link to contact page
  • Send Wordpress.com a email. Just let them know how many Entrecard users there are and how Wordpress.com should take part in Entrecard!

If you know of any other ways let me know!

Entrecard Burnout

Entrecard BurnoutLike many follow Entrecarders when I first joined I thought “Credits = real money” and “I want to be at the top!”. To do this you really need to drop around 200-300 cards a day. Not only that you need to drop them at good reasonable times and try to keep a list of your normal droppers.

This takes a lot of time. Not only do you need to drop the cards on every one of the 300 blogs, you also need to make the lists and try to comment and read some of the posts. I know the reading and commenting is a rule most people do not follow and that is ok… I do not expect 300 droppers to read all 300 blogs.

After a few weeks of this you start to feel great because your at the top of your group and you can see them credits rolling in… But then you do not want to give up that #1 spot and you know you need to keep dropping and dropping at the correct times. This is when the burnout starts! You get sick of the drop pages (Or bookmarks and inbox) and you get sick of scanning the blogs for the entrecard widget.

I have sometimes scanned a page 3 times and not seen the entrecard widget which is staring me in the face… this is when you know your coming to the end of the road and need a break.

The only problem with a break is you know you will lose a lot of of what you have built up. Your position will undoubtly fall in your category and you may also lose your place on some peoples lists. This is what may keep you going for another week or so…
